If you want to experience flying a real airplane, then contact a flight school near you and ask about getting an introductory or discovery flight.  Many local flight schools offer introductory or discovery flight packages for aspiring pilots.

What to Expect – 

Your typical introductory or discovery flights will include some ground school and flight time in an actual airplane so can experience the joys of flight.  Some schools may even include some time in a training simulator.

In addition to a great hands-on experience, you get the opportunity to speak one-on-one with a flight instructor and start building a relationship with the aviation community.
